Using the AMD Radeon ProRender Plug-in for Autodesk Inventor
Designed for ease of use, the Radeon ProRender plug-in for Inventor will allow any user, regardless of experience, to create photorealistic images from their parts and assemblies. Simply install the plug-in and use the button in the Radeon ProRender tool shelf to launch the Viewer application.
After installation, the plug-in for Autodesk Inventor is enabled automatically. Simply start Autodesk Inventor 2021 after installation.
The plug-in adds two (for Inventor 2021) or three (for Inventor 2022) buttons to the Tools menu, as shown in the below illustrations. The Plugin Settings button is only available for Inventor 2022.
Once Inventor 2022 is launched, we can open the RPR Viewer application and a scene to be worked on. The user interfaces and workflows to start using the plug-in are shown in the video below. They are intuitive and self-explanatory. RPR Viewer’s features, grouped into five tabs with some common tasks, are shown in more detail in the RPR Viewer Task Tabs subsection below.
In the Tools menu, you will see the following two or three buttons:
USD Viewer ― This will open RPR Viewer and send USD data over a “live” connection. Changes to the Inventor assembly will be updated automatically in the Viewer. Most users will want to use this option.
Convert to USD file ― Exports an Inventor assembly into a USD file. This is useful for power users who have other applications (such as Autodesk Maya) which can import USD files.
Settings (for Inventor 2022 only) ― To manage the plug-in settings, as detailed in the Plug-In Settings subsection below.
