Particles and Hair
Blender particles can be of emitter or hair types.
Emitter Particles
Out of Emitter particles, ‘Halo’ is the only subtype (‘Render As’) supported.
Halo particles are rendered as spheres:

in viewport, the Blender can hide the rendered halo particles beneath the UI particles. In such case, you can adjust the Size of the particles in the Viewport particles settings panel to be less than Scale in the Render panel:
Hair Particles
Hair is fully supported by Radeon ProRender.
Hair Shaders
Most of the supported shaders could be used as the hair material.

Note
It is not recommended to attach emissive shaders on hair.
