GPU Cache Files Support
GPU cache files are developed from the open-source alembic file format. Originally supported in Maya’s GPU cache nodes, these files can also be used with AMD Radeon ProRender for a number of reasons, including accelerated scene loading, increased playback performance, or faster materials and textures processing.
Data from GPU cache nodes bypasses Maya dependency graphs and is routed directly to GPU. This allows decrease the number of issues that may arise with scenes that include large objects or heavy geometry.
For details, see About GPU Caches in Maya documentation.
Limitations
At the moment, GPU cache files cannot be used with animations.
